At Sayva Neuroscience Institute, Dr. Hemant Kalia and team are dedicated to providing innovative healthcare solutions tailored to your needs.

Dr. Kalia specializes in interventional spine and cancer pain management with special expertise in advanced neuromodulation procedures.

He earned his medical degree in India and immigrated to USA in 2003. He subsequently did residencies in Preventive Medicine & Public Health and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at University of Rochester. He subsequently completed an ACGME approved Pain Medicine fellowship and additional FIPP (Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice) certification from World Institute of Pain.

Dr. Kalia is a member of numerous national/international professional societies and volunteers on some of their boards. As faculty at national and international educational/training workshops, he teaches interventional spine and pain procedures to young neuromodulators and physicians. He also serves as an examiner for the World Institute of Pain’s reputable FIPP certification course, contributing to the development of upcoming specialists.

Dr. Kalia has presented his work on cancer pain and advanced neuromodulation at multiple national and international conferences including book chapters and publications. He served as an Editor-in-Chief of Advances in Clinical Medical Research & Health Care Delivery open access Journal and currently serves as editor on numerous spine & pain journals.

He has been serving the Upstate New York region since 2007 and as Monroe County Medical Society’s past president, Dr. Kalia locally championed private practices, urging policy reforms. For over a decade with the Medical Society of the State of New York, he shaped state policy through resolutions and committee work, supporting physicians and public health initiatives statewide.

Nurse Practitioner

Throughout her 15 years of dedicated nursing care in Rochester, New York, Amy has always valued a patient-centered approach to healthcare. As an Adult-Geriatric Nurse Practitioner specializing in Pain Medicine, Amy’s primary focus is on improving the quality of life for her patients.

Amy has extensive experience in managing advanced neuromodulation therapies such as spinal cord stimulators and intrathecal pain and spasticity pumps. As an active member of the North American Neuromodulation Society APP Committee, she serves in roles that focus on program development to empower clinicians in the field through education and collaboration.

Amy is excited to be part of the founding team at Savya Neuroscience Institute. Her practice is deeply rooted in a holistic approach, ensuring that each patient receives personalized and compassionate care. She is committed to listening to your concerns, understanding your needs, and working with you to develop an effective treatment plan.

Carolyn Verfuss

Practice Manager

As the Practice Manager at Savya Neurological Institute, Carolyn blends her background as a nurse with her expertise in healthcare operations. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Roberts Wesleyan University and has extensive experience managing ambulatory practices in our region.

While her role at Savya focuses on operations, Carolyn’s heart remains in patient advocacy. She believes compassion, empathy, and personal connection are the foundations of quality care and she is deeply committed to creating systems that foster trust between patients and providers.

As a founding member of Savya Neurological Institute, Carolyn is proud to build a practice where people feel genuinely seen, heard, and supported.
